Raindrops 05:10
I can feel the raindrops falling down And all the time I’m falling to the ground We’ll take flight through my window Starlight is ours By the light of the moon I hold onto stars I can feel the raindrops falling down (What you feel is a light emotion) And all the time I’m falling to the ground I’ll pour wine on these mountains Comb through these clouds On the other side of the world Is my backyard Garden of Eden spirited Did it need to be protected? I can feel the raindrops falling down And all the time or calling to come down In this silvery night light, stretch out yr arms By the light of the moon, I hold onto stars On the other side of the world Is my backyard Garden of Eden spirited Did it need to be protected? And when will we fly free We’re still trying to become In frustration, we came back To the sea and to the land

Death crawls through my window And as the evening dances An honest man falls from his iron frame This is where lonely hearts live On my blanket, there’s a window And as the evening dances She calls Calls Calls To him On my blanket, there’s a window It’s now yr dream, not yr life This is goodbye my love Christmas can wait For the life of beauty and pain Wrote my future without reservation From some old circumstance It was a small sacrifice For the life of beauty and pain That suspends us in its grace The thing I lost will last an eternity
4.
On the other side of the world It came through like a piece of metal In the time it takes to make the earth move Tracking lives, fossilized In layers and lines which tell time But you can’t make light You've got lifeboats on the line To go alone is suicide To sink my ghost ship All yr colours all the time You're my fortune calling You don’t like that song of mine From Yr Lights In to Long Lines Contentedly, picked up a pen Looked over to him, looked so zen Seagulls flying by, boats on the horizon High high high, this snapshot sent Meant to tell you then as I tell you now Things have been changing Breathing new life into our heads Our hearts on fire again
5.
And you set a date for it On the dark side of town And you said you’d wait for him Forever All I ever wanted was to stay For always They set a trap for him On the outskirts of town Feuds with guns it takes a cold man To sign-on Hope you get this message I’m alright Yrs, always For always
6.
Please believe me when I say it's true There will never be another you In the golden years when I know, we're through What in the world are we gonna do?
7.
We have starlight that shines for us We are more than fortunate Find meaning in our thoughts Seeing laughter in dark eyes We have nothing to hide Call is set for revolution The call is set a long, long way Call was said for revolution The call was sent a long long way Gonna love you for a long, long time There’re so many ways of creation So let’s write the world in our lifetime So much we are capable of No mystery that can’t be solved In a flash of blinding light
8.
Jamie Starr would steal everything that you wore And listen to the songs that you wrote And all that you take from me Would never make you come around You've been missing since the father of time woke up All the ladies crying “Lord don’t take yr life” Come to me Don’t ever leave Come to me My Prince of thieves With love, there is no death You've been missing since the dark of the night rolled up All the ladies crying “Lord don’t take his life” You've been hurting since the father of time woke up All the ladies hang a light up for yr life You’d sing “Free” to me Playing from my tape machine You've been missing since the dark of the night rolled up All the ladies crying “Lord don’t take his life” All the ladies cry: “With love there is no death!” I wanna know where you are And if it feels like it’s far I wanna know where you are Can I come?
9.
Oh mother could you make the moon talk to me? Cause everybody here they hate my dream Could you tear apart the world and make them see? When me and moon will talk, no one else around can breathe Oh mother can you make the moon talk to me? In the dark lonely seasons of my mind When me and moon will talk, no one else around will breathe And I’m lost on the broadway of my mind Oh mama can you take her mind and make her see? Hide yr eyes Don’t leave memories Of yr warm summer body But it’s all the same to me Leave a light on for me love No one else will take me now For the Last of the Great Thunderstorm Warnings

about

The Besnard Lakes have passed through death and they're here to tell the tale. Nearly five years after their last lightning-tinted volley, the magisterial Montreal psych-rock band has sworn off compromise, split with their long-standing label, and completed a searing, 72-minute suite about the darkness of death and the light on the other side.

Ignited by their love for each other, for playing music together, the sextet found themselves unspooling the most uncompromising recording of their career. Despite all its grandeur, ...The Last of the Great Thunderstorm Warnings honours the very essence of punk rock: the notion that a band needs only be relevant to itself. At last, the Besnard Lakes have crafted a continuous long-form suite: nine tracks that could be listened together as one, like Spiritualized's Lazer Guided Melodies or even Dark Side of the Moon, overflowing with melody and harmony, drone and dazzle, the group's own unique weather.

The Besnard Lakes Are The Last of the Great Thunderstorm Warnings is a double LP. "Near Death" is the title of the first side. "Death," "After Death," and "Life" follows next. It's literally a journey into (and back from) the brink: the story of the Besnard Lakes' own odyssey but also a remembrance of others, especially the death of Lasek's father in 2019. Being on your deathbed is perhaps the most psychedelic trip you can go on: in Lasek's father's case, he surfaced from a morphine dream to talk about "a window" on his blanket, with "a carpenter inside, making intricate objects." That experience pervades the album, catching fire on the song "Christmas Can Wait"; elsewhere the band pays tribute to the late Mark Hollis and, on "The Father of Time Wakes Up," they mourn the death of Prince.

about

The Besnard Lakes Montreal, Québec

Unique among their furrowed brow peers, The Besnard Lakes are unafraid to marry textured, questing headphone sonics to the honeyed pleasure of radio hits past: the rapture of My Bloody Valentine entwined with the romance of Fleetwood Mac. Imagine dreamy Beach House riding Led Zeppelin dynamics, with unabashedly androgynous vocal harmonies. ... more
